They are very sharp right out of the box with a sharpening steel that works well. the steak knives are great, they are clean, black, and professional looking and would definitely fit in with any nice set of china or flatware. These are quality knives without an overly expensive price tag. That said, they are worth the $200. Consider it an investment.
