WORKS GREAT! Reviews Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator FD-75A

Nesco seems to be the top runner for reasonably priced dehydrators. We decided to get this Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator FD-75A vs the square one because we werent sure how much we'd use it and wanted the cheapest option. I do agree with other viewers that it would be nice to have a timer that shuts it off but I will do as one other reviewer said and that was to buy a timer at Home Depot and plug the dehydrator into that.

I bought this item as a means to deal with the overabundance of produce coming out of my garden!!! I have dried tomatoes, apples, apricots, peppers, and made a ton of venison jerky using this Nesco Food Dehydrator FD-75A machine. I also purchased the extra "layers" enabling me to be more efficient and do even more drying in the same amount of time.
  • Top-mounted fan; adjustable thermostat from 95-to-160 degrees F
  • Flavors don't mix; no need to rotate trays; opaque exterior blocks harmful lights
  • Includes recipe book, 2 solid sheets, 2 mesh sheets, and 3 jerky spice packets
  • Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging
  • Measures approximately 13 by 13 by 10-inch
The tomatoes came out EXACTLY like the package of sun-dried tomatoes that you would buy in the store! They were such a hit (and I dried so many) that I even sold them to a local cafe. Everything I have dried has come out amazing. Get the Nesco Professional 700W 5-Tray Food Dehydrator, FD-75PR for less.

I've seen a few comments concerned about power consumption so I figured I'd post my findings. This is a 700 Watt unit but remember that appliances controlled by thermostat don't run at peak power the whole time. I tested mine for 4 hours at 160 degrees and it used 1.68 kWh or an average consumption of 420 Watts per hour.

Current cost of power where I live is around 15 cents per kWh so this Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator FD-75A unit costs me a little over 6 cents per hour. If I run it 10 hours a week, I'm looking at around $2.41 per month. I saved more than that making my first 1 lb of jerky!

This Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator FD-75A  product earned 1,385 customer reviews and 90% are satisfied (as 11/22/2013).

Cleaning: easy to clean. Dehydrated fruits leave virtually no residue, they stick very lightly to the trays and can be easily pulled out. Not a single banana or any other fruit like apples got stuck in the trays to the point that they couldnt be removed easily with the fingers, and entire, not in fragments.
